It takes properties from fo:retrieve-marker. The XSL spec says:
[6.11.3. fo:marker]
XSL> Property values set on an fo:marker or its ancestors
XSL> will not be inherited by the children of the fo:marker
XSL> when they are retrieved by an fo:retrieve-marker.
[6.11.4. fo:retrieve-marker]
XSL> The properties and traits specified on the ancestors
XSL> of the fo:retrieve-marker are taken into account when
XSL> formatting the children of the retrieved fo:marker
XSL> as if the children had the same ancestors as the
XSL> fo:retrieve-marker.
Best regards,
Nikolai Grigoriev
