Hello Bennett,
You have 'embed="true"' in your font configuration, but XEP cannot
embed OpenType font thus it issues a warning. XEP limitations
regarding TrueType/OpenType fonts are listed in section 5.1. "TrueType
and OpenType Fonts" of "XEP 3.6 User Guide" (userguide.pdf). As for
'adobe-*' attributes - their values are determined by Adobe ad hoc for
each character collection; please refer to Adobe's specifications.
Best regards,

BS> Hello,
BS> I have the XEP 3.6.3 client and am trying to follow the steps to
BS> configure support for some additional Adobe OpenType fonts I have. The
BS> fonts are part of the "Adobe Type Basics OpenType Ed." collection.
BS> Following the instructions in the manual I added some additional lines
BS> to the fonts.xml file. Here is an example of the additional font lines
BS> I have added:
BS> <font name="AGaramondPro-Regular"
BS> ttf="C:/PSFONTS/AGaramondPro-Regular.otf"
BS> adobe-encoding="UniCNS-UCS2-H"
BS> adobe-ordering="CNS1"
BS> adobe-supplement="1"
BS> embed="true">
BS> <alias name="AGaramondPro"/>
BS> </font>
BS> When I convert a .fo file to .pdf the conversion seems to be working and
BS> I get a pdf that mentions the new font. However, I also get an error
BS> message(or warning, not sure which) from XEP stating that the font
BS> cannot be embedded. When I look at the document properties in Acrobat
BS> it shows that the fonts have been substituted with some other font
BS> instead of the one I am expecting.
BS> I do not understand why XEP cannot embed the font properly. Just to
BS> make sure the font can be embedded I created a small FrameMaker document
BS> that uses the font and then generated a PDF file from it using Acrobat
BS> Professional. When I did this it successfully embedded the font in the
BS> PDF without any warning.
BS> One area where I'm a bit confused is with the three adobe- attributes in
BS> the <font> element. How can I determine what these should be set to for
BS> my fonts? Also, what is the list of possible values for these
BS> attributes?
BS> Many thanks.
