Hi all,
In order to make my PDFs accessible, I am using one of the Base 14 fonts
(specifically Times). Pending a response/solution from Adobe, I would like
to use a TrueType font for rendering, but currently I haven't been able to
make PDFs rendered with TT fonts accessible (due to CMap errors).
Here is where my problem arises. I can achieve my desired output with TT
fonts, but when I switch to Times, certain characters are omitted from the
final PDF. They exist in the FO code used to generate the PDF, but appear
to be lost in rendering. I am currently using
font-selection-strategy="character-by-character" with the following list of
fonts: Times, 'Palatino Linotype', MSMincho, Symbol (all of which are
properly defined in my fonts.xml file). This takes care of many special
characters such as checkmarks and "X"s, but other characters, such as a
simple "minus" sign (-) aren't rendered in the final output. The "minus" is
there if I render with 'Palatino Linotype' as my first font. I'm fairly
sure that all the fonts in my list have a glyph for "minus", so it should be
rendered whether Times or Palatino is first in the list.
Can anyone tell me what is causing this erratic behavior?
Thanks,
RG
