It has been so long since I built the Java environment I'm currently
using that I cannot remember which one it is, though here's the
version banner:

java version "1.3.1-internal"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1-internal-paulh-020117-15:25)
Classic VM (build 1.3.1-internal-paulh-020117-15:25, green threads, nojit)
It may be the port you're already using. Either way, XEP runs just
fine on the JVM.
