Hello Peter,
Make sure that there are no whitespaces between the word and the
footnote - in this case they will be naturally kept together as any
other adjacent inlines. If you need some space between word and its
footnote number and yet want to keep them together you can separate
them by space-filled fo:leader.
Best regards,

PK> Hello Alexander,
PK> your solution worked for me as did your solution for the text alignment
PK> bottom up. Thanx very much, but now I have another question about footnotes.
PK> How can I force the generated superscripted footnote number to stay on the
PK> same line as the word for which the footnote was generated.
PK> I have a single footnote number scrolled to the next line and this doesnt
PK> look very nice.
PK> Thanx in advance

PK> Hello Peter,
PK> Yes, you can use absolutely positioned container to achieve desired effect.
PK> Position this container so that its bottom coincide with the page
PK> bottom, place inside second text block and set display-align="after"
PK> on the container. Note that container should be large enough to
PK> accommodate your text, in fact it could be as tall as the page itself
PK> since it is transparent anyway and would not interfere with other
