I've tried out all Officina Serif TrueType fonts I have at hand and none of
them gives an error.

This error means that the naming ('name') table is missing in the font,
whereas it is required for any TrueType font to function properly.

Which versions of XEP give you the correct results and which ones give the
error?

Could you please send us the OfficinaSerifBook TrueType font and the XEP
configuration file (archived) to support@renderx.com?
