Susan:
RenderX did not have HTML output, except for this XHTML output I have
described. Perhaps you used something like XSL FO to HTML to do it
(http://www.renderx.com/tools/fo2html.html). This really has nothing to do
with RenderX XEP . it is merely an XSL that converts XSL FO to HTML
structures, you do not need RenderX XEP to do this, you only need this style
sheet, XSL FO input and an XSLT transformer.
Our licensed XHTML output was designed to (as much as possible) mimic the
output of RenderX for PDF, Postscript and other print formats. To accomplish
this, the XEP Intermediate Format XML is transformed to XHTML. So you need
to use RenderX XEP to compose the pages. It makes heavy use of absolute
positioned <div>'s to accomplish most everything . including what would be
kerning, specific placement of images, apparent pages, etc. It results in an
HTML file (or files) that are exactly like the PDF output (as best as
possible). It is really meant for situations where you wish to display an
HTML result in a browser without a helper application (like Adobe Reader).
We also have SVG output that with new browsers can do the same.

Hi Kevin,
Thank you for such a quick response. Please let me know what is the cost for
the XHTML output upgrade. Also, when I was using XEP a few years ago I did
HTML transformations. Do I have the option to go back to that older XEP
version that would output HTML? If so, what is the advantage of the upgrade?
I hope that makes sense. What I'm really after is just a good HTML
preprocessor, and I'm trying to weigh my options.
Thanks so much,
Susan

Subject: [xep-support] error: XHTML support is not licensed for this
installation.
Hi,
I haven't used XEP in a few years but need it again now. I updated to what I
believe is the latest version, 4.19, and I'm running it on a WinXP machine.
PDF transform works perfectly, but trying to create HTML files fails and
throws the following error:
[error] XHTML support is not licensed for this installation.
[error] configuration is corrupt
[error] java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
Does this mean that I've missed an upgrade that I need to pay for? I
purchased my original license in November, 2004.
I've searched everywhere and can't find this error mentioned. Maybe it's a
configuration issue that I've missed. ? I'd appreciate any help, or please
just direct me to instructions on installation or configuration that I need
to read.
Thanks,
Susan
