1) Yes
2) Yes but I would take a look from a different perspective, what is it
that you are doing? Batch formatting? On-line Bill Presentment? There are
many, many ways to integrate the new RenderX XEP ranging from the Java API
direct to SOAP or TCP. Do not try to solve the problem technically, try to
present what you are trying to accomplish and help us to help you implement
the proper solution.
3) XEP 4x version was released October 2004.
XEP 3x was end-of-life October 2006, over 8 years ago.
We do not have any such thing around, in fact we cannot even generate
license keys as that software was taken down and permanently archived long
ago.
You should have a manual somewhere in the installation.
4) I am trying to generate the hammer.pdf given in the examples of the XEP
directory with the XEP assistant and get the following error.
[error] license check failed
[error] org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: unexpected character after document
prolog (found "T") (expected "<")
The message means you have a corrupt license.xml file in the installation.
What license.xml file did you use?
Please send it to support@renderx.com <mailto:support@renderx.com> (You are
a supported customer, you should be using support@renderx.com
<mailto:support@renderx.com> and not xep-support for faster assistance).

Subject: [xep-support] XEP Upgradation
Hi,
I went through the XEP User Guide and understood few things about the new
XEP release. I would like to understand few things:
1) Can we use the inbuilt JAXP implementation included in Java 1.6 along
with RenderX ?
2) We currently use the below parsers in our application.
javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory
org.apache.crimson.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl
javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory
org.apache.crimson.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl
javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory
org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl
Will we have any compatibility issues with the new version.
3) I don't find a User Guide for the current version we use which is XEP
3.5. Can you let me know if we have any ?
4) I am trying to generate the hammer.pdf given in the examples of the XEP
directory with the XEP assistant and get the following error.
[error] license check failed
[error] org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: unexpected character after document
prolog (found "T") (expected "<")
Formatting failed.
Can you let me know what's going wrong.
We will make decisions accordingly on how to move forward once we have
enough information
Thanks,

1) Current Versions Used:
2 license(s) XEP v3 server
JRE : 1.5.0_19
XSLT 1.0
2) To keep it simple, Our implementation uses the jars provided by XEP to
generate pdf files out of the data we have.
3) Proposed New Version:
Java 1.6
We have purchased 2 license(s) for XEP 4.23.355
We downloaded the devkit and xep4.23.355 zip files dated 15th of August
2014. I understand that the devkit has the RenderX API to go through .
Please suggest any info which will be useful for our integration and changes
between the versions.
Do let me known if I need to provide any other info.

It is unclear what you are looking for:
1) What is your current version?
2) What is your implementation code for the current version?
3) What are your requirements for the new version?
Given the answers to the above, we can properly recommend what you should do
with the new version and how best to implement a solution that delivers
against your requirements.

Hi Kevin,
We are planning to upgrade our existing RenderX version to latest RenderX
version. Can we have some training material which will help us in the
migration or can we have some training arranged ?
Thanks,

1) Fonts can contain licensing restrictions embedded in the font files.
These can control whether the font can be embedded (or not) or whether it
can be subsetted (or not). You are using a font whose license restrictions
are such that it cannot be subsetted and you are requesting that it be
subsetted.
You can control subsetting on a font by setting the flag "subset"
(true/false) on the font or font-group.
2) I do not know. Normally that means you only think you are pointing to the
font and the path is incorrect or the file cannot be located or you are not
naming it correctly.
I cannot tell what you are doing with seeing the file. It's not clear to me
what version you are using (it looks very, very old). There is no fonts.xml
file in XEP 4x. You should be using the latest version of our software.
